  • Possible UTI

Monday, May 11, 2026 Had a rough start of the day. I woke up feeling woozy. I had breakfast in bed hoping that would jumpstart me. I got up into my wheelchair and felt a little worse. • Rebuilding a purposeful life

My life was in turmoil the first few years after my accident in 2018. I was not in a good place mentally and physically. I didn’t know my place in the world after several years of identifying myself in a variety of roles. These included being a husband, a therapist, golfer, etc. I have lived Continue reading

  • Therapeutic Recreation

My life is over. I have no hope. Those were my thoughts for several months after my injury. The old Howard was dead though my body was still alive. I could not walk, feed myself, or even scratch an itch in most places of my body. I was a helpless lump of flesh. I lost Continue reading

I have never been one for making New Year’s resolutions. But still, I did a little fact checking on the failure rate of people carrying out their New Year’s resolutions. What I found was quite humorous and sad. According to research at Baylor College of Medicine at the University of Delaware, 80%-90% of people who Continue reading

  • The Travel Adventures of a Quadriplegic

I could just hop in my car and run errands or visit friends. Having a vehicle is freedom of movement. I could just take a scenic drive someplace or impulsively see a movie. This is something I took for granted as I’m sure most of you readers do also. This freedom of movement was upended Continue reading
