Well, guess what? I was readmitted to the hospital on July 2 after my blood pressure bottomed out because of a UTI. I never shook the infection from my last hospitalization.
The infectious disease team said my infection was resistant to oral antibiotics. The doctor said the kidney stone lodged in my kidney is causing the infection and will continue to do so until removed. I was originally scheduled for surgery on August 31 but this was bumped to July 25. I will need a picc line in my arm to receive antibiotics until the kidney stones are removed. Hope Network cannot manage the IV so I will stay at a Spectrum subacute rehab facility until after the surgery.
On a separate note, Dr. Vandenberg paid me a visit at the hospital. He’s my other doctor at Mary Free Bed. We were in agreement the baclofen pump was doing little in managing my tone. He consulted with Doctor Yablon in trying morphine as a replacement medication in the pump. He reduced the pump’s baclofen dosage 15%.
My anxiety has doubled during this hospitalization. I listen to meditation music to sleep. I’ve been watching the Tigers, streaming services, along with listening to podcasts and audiobooks. I don’t have my wheelchair here so I have been bed bound throughout my stay.
The timeline for my transfer to subacute rehab is either later today or tomorrow.
