A blog about my rehabilitation and recovery from a spinal cord injury that left me paralyzed with quadriplegia.

The quad squad

We have a weekly Group at Hope Network, hosted by speech therapy, for individuals the CSI. I call us the “Quad Squad” since we are all quadriplegics. One gentleman is hard of hearing. One other just doesn’t talk a lot. So it is me and “Steve” that carry the group. Steve and I banter back-and-forth trading jokes.

A few topics we cover are assistive technology for quads, we also cover accessibility issues for people in wheelchairs and changes to make at the program. We gossip about the staff and frustrations about being a quadriplegic.

It’s nice getting together with people who have similar problems and sharing information they can make your life easier.

  1. I’m really glad to hear that it meets weekly. It sounds really valuable. There’s nothing like people who share your particular circumstance for provide support, but your group is more than a support group as you’re discussing technology and changes being made in your facility.

    1. You’re quite right. I look forward to this group every week. Thanks for your reading and comment!

So some poor facilitator is not looking forward to Monday. LOL

    1. Absolutely not!

  3. It absolutely is – on a human level and on the level in which you are navigating so much each week.
