Rants and raves

Rant: Passwords will be the death of me

The one thing that triggers me into a rage are freakin’ passwords. I have about 100 no no accounts that require a login name and password. I try to be diligent to keep these updated and store them in a password keeper app.

My iPhone has the ability to save my passwords. Simple right?

And yet…

I receive login failed alert. It makes me want to throw myself on the floor into a fetal position sucking my thumb. And also screaming at my phone.

Rave: Podcasts

I highly recommend Freakonomics Radio. It is a weekly podcast that covers a  variety of fascinating topics. There was a recent episode of pedestrians being killed and very little is being doing anything about it.

Traffic intersections are four times more likely they have a fatal accident then roundabouts.

Rant: The bear call returns!

If I’m in total anguish and frustration I have a bellowing Howell that can be heard miles away. My golf buddies call it the bear call. I have them impressive set of lungs and the call can last about eight seconds long.

I unleashed a cry on October 25, 2023. My recreational therapist was buckling me in with the seatbelt. I was asking Siri for suggestions of a nearby coffee house. She was giving me anything but and I finally blew a gasket. My yell scared the crap out of my recreational therapist. I was a bit embarrassed but felt a little better.

Rave: Streaming Recommendations

Barry is a show I watched on Max. Bill Hader is a professional assassin in Los Angeles who joins an acting class. He decides to retire and focus on acting under the tutelage of Henry Winkler. But his old life keeps dragging him back in.

Please suggest any streaming recommendations. You can either comment on this website or contact me by email.

I completely agree about passwords. I’m testing out a Password Keeper called “LastPass.” They always suggest you use super obscure passwords an I decided when LassPass was consistently putting in my passwords correctly I might be willing to do that. 6 mos later that has not happened. Grrrr.

My newest fave in Freakonomics is the Economics of Everyday Things. The Tattoo Parlors episode was particularly good.

I feel sure you’ve already watched this, but just in case it’s under the radar. . . I highly recommend The Bear on Hulu. Not a scream like yours but intense non the less.

    1. I have Keeper as a password keeper. Having to sign in each time is cumbersome so I have been using the notes app on my phone. Probably not the most secure thing I could do!

Thanks for mentioning your new podcast. I started downloading those episodes recently but haven’t listened to anything lately. Make a point of listening to the episode of Tattoo parlors. Thanks for recommending this. You are the second person to mention The Bear on Hulu I have to check out a couple episodes.
