Prialt treatment update
For the past couple of months, I’ve been getting periodic increases of Prialt. This is a pain reliever but my case it doubles for spasticity relief.
There has been noticeable improvements with my spasticity and functioning. I have more movement with my arms and legs. Last month, I walked 647 feet with the platform walker, which more than doubled my previous distance.
I am able to self feed more and shave a bit. I can press handicap buttons to open doorways. My left arm is the more functional one. My left thumb and index finger are able to grip items
Despite these gains, there is still a long way to go. I still have a good amount of tone and spasticity in my legs and arms, which is why the prialt dosage is increased.
There’s no previous game plan for this type of treatment.
In OT, I’m strengthening my arms through using arm bands. My hands and arms are still stiff because of the tone. I’m working on the repetition of our movement to help with self feeding.
I’m walking twice a week for over 500 feet per trip.
I have a follow up appointment with Dr Lubenow in Chicago on March 14. I’m hoping to continue increasing the dosage of Prialt because I have plateaued the past couple of updates.
I’ll keep all you up-to-date!
The Wolfpack reunite!
I met with Melody and Amy this past Saturday at Schuler’s bookstore café. We read Dear Committee Members for our assigned Reading. I would give it a three out of five stars.
Our next books to review are remarkably bright creatures and the Thursday murder club.
Pass along any reading suggestions. The Wolfpack are complaining that I get too deep in my book selection.
