A blog about my rehabilitation and recovery from a spinal cord injury that left me paralyzed with quadriplegia.

Prialt medication trial

The trial has begun! I started using Prialt as an alternative medication to Baclofen a couple of months ago.

Amy is my nurse through Pentec Health. She comes to my place at Hope Network every two weeks to provide intrathecal pump management.

My initial dose of Prialt was minimal but I could feel the effects almost immediately. Spasticity and tone was relieved in both the legs and the arms.

For the first time in two years I was able to take steps. I have walked up to 280 feet.

How did that feel?

Glorious and the hardest thing I’ve had to put myself through.

Amy comes in every two weeks and increases the prialt dosage 10 to 15%. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been a lot of improvement since the initial dosage. I’m still not able to self-feed or self grooming very much.

My brain wants to go down to those endless rabbit holes. Is this as good as it gets? Is there another medication that would work better? Am I still on dosage that is too low to be effective?

I’ll continue to receive increase dosages every two weeks and hope for improvement.

I have a follow up appointment in Chicago on 9/27.
