Prior to the accident, I worked as a licensed social worker at Cherry Health, a nonprofit Organization that provides a myriad of services to low income people. I was a therapist/ Health coach splitting my time between two locations. I lived in a beautiful house and a nice piece of property in Ada, Michigan, a suburb of Grand Rapids.
I have been in the social work profession since graduating from Ferris State in 1986. I eventually earned my MSW at Western Michigan in 2009.
On October 23, 2018, I finished a shift at the Hastings location and stopped at home to let Rooney, my stepdaughter’s dog outside. My wife at the time, was in Chicago visiting her father. I hit the first fork in the road that changed my life. I intended to stay home but Amy encouraged me to play some golf because the season was wrapping up due to the weather. And so I played the last round of my life.
